Is Boston Logan Airport WiFi safe?
What the Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) WiFi is called, what Massport says about it, and how to check it before you trust it.
Massport’s own answer is short: free, fast Wi-Fi in all terminals, on the network “BOSWiFi”. It is fine for everyday browsing if you join that exact name. It is still public WiFi, so keep banking for mobile data or a network you have checked.

What the sign-in page should ask for
Massport’s FAQ only says to connect to “BOSWiFi”. Expect a captive portal (a sign-in page that opens before the internet works) where you accept the terms.
Massport also points travellers to its FlyLogan app for “premium Wi-Fi”. If you want the faster tier, get it through the official FlyLogan app from the App Store or Google Play, not through a pop-up or a page that appeared on a different network.
Rule of thumb for any airport: a WiFi sign-in page may ask you to accept terms, watch an ad or enter basic contact details. It should never ask for a card number (unless you chose a paid tier on the official portal), your email password or a bank login.
Lookalike networks
The official name is one word, with no spaces: BOSWiFi. Some third-party guides list BOS Free WiFi; that is not the name Massport publishes, so it is not the one to pick. The same goes for Logan Free WiFi or BOS-Guest.
Copycat networks (“evil twins”) work by broadcasting a name that looks trusted, sometimes with a stronger signal than the real one. CISA advises confirming the name of a public hotspot before you use it, so if two similar names appear, ask staff or check the airport’s website.
Good to know at Logan
- The network covers all terminals, so a strong “BOSWiFi” signal is normal anywhere airside or landside. A second, similar name near one gate is the thing to be suspicious of.
- Customer service agents can also be reached by video chat in the FlyLogan app or at the pre-security information booths, and from any courtesy phone by dialling *23.
A 5-step check at BOS
- Join exactly
BOSWiFi— one word, notBOS Free WiFior a name that appeared after you reached the gate. - Complete the sign-in page and look at its address: the airport or its WiFi provider, ideally over HTTPS.
- Use apps and sites over HTTPS. If a site you know suddenly shows a certificate warning, stop.
- Keep banking and work logins for a network you have checked, or use mobile data or your company VPN.
- Turn off Auto-Join for this network before you leave, so your phone doesn’t silently rejoin a lookalike later.
