Welcome to SentryFi (also known as "Wi-Fi Security Check - SentryFi")! This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

By using SentryFi, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

We do NOT collect any personal information directly. The App does not require:

• Account creation
• Email address
• Name or phone number
• Precise location data
• Any other personally identifiable information

3.2 Automatically Collected Information

The App stores the following information locally on your device only:

• Scan History: Your last 5 WiFi security scan results are saved on your device using AsyncStorage
• App Settings: Language preference, display settings, and onboarding status are stored locally
• Network Scan Data: Technical information from WiFi scans (latency, bandwidth, DNS results) is temporarily stored during the scan and saved in your history

3.3 Advertising Data

SentryFi displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

• Advertising ID (a resettable identifier for advertising)
• Device information (device model, OS version)
• General location (country/region, based on IP address)
• App usage data for ad performance

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policies.

4. How We Use Information

The limited information we handle is used solely for:

• App Functionality: Storing your scan history and preferences locally to provide a better experience
• Security Scanning: Performing WiFi network security checks entirely on your device
• Advertising: Displaying relevant ads through Google AdMob to support the free app (banner ads and rewarded ads to unlock detailed reports)
• App Improvement: Understanding basic usage patterns (through AdMob analytics only)

We do NOT:

• Sell or share your data with third parties (except as required by Google AdMob)
• Track you across other apps or websites
• Build user profiles
• Send marketing emails or notifications
• Collect WiFi passwords or sensitive network credentials
• Upload scan results to external servers

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Google AdMob

SentryFi uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC.

What AdMob collects:

• Advertising ID
• Device type and OS version
• Approximate location (based on IP address)
• Ad interaction data (clicks, views)

You can opt-out of personalized ads:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Personalized Ads (toggle off)

5.2 Network Testing Services

During security scans, the App performs network requests to the following public services:

• Apple Captive Portal Detection: http://captive.apple.com/hotspot-detect.html
• DNS Integrity Tests: Google, Cloudflare, Apple domains
• Speed Tests: Cloudflare speed test endpoint
• Latency Tests: Google, Cloudflare, Amazon endpoints

These requests are made directly from your device for security analysis purposes. No personal information is transmitted in these requests.

6. Data Storage and Security

Since SentryFi does not collect or transmit personal data to servers:

• Your scan history and settings are stored locally on your device using secure AsyncStorage
• No data is transmitted to our servers
• All security scans are performed 100% on-device
• If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is deleted

7. Children's Privacy

SentryFi is a technical security tool intended for general audiences. We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.

Child Safety Measures:

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children
• No chat, social features, or user-generated content
• Ads are family-friendly and comply with Google's policies
• No in-app purchases

If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view your scan history within the App
• Deletion: Clear app data in device settings or uninstall the App to delete all locally stored data
• Opt-Out of Personalized Ads: Use your device settings (see Section 5.1)
• Advertising ID Reset: Reset your Advertising ID in device settings
• Data Portability: Your data is already on your device and under your control

9. International Users

SentryFi is available worldwide. If you are using the App from outside the United States:

• Your data (scan history, settings) remains on your device
• AdMob data may be processed by Google in various countries
• By using the App, you consent to data processing as described in this Privacy Policy

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.

How we notify you:

• Significant changes: Posted in the app or via app store update notes
• Minor changes: Updated on this page without additional notice

Continued use of SentryFi after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

11. Data Retention

• Local Data: Your scan history (last 5 scans) and settings are retained on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data.
• AdMob Data: Google AdMob retains data according to their policies. Typically:
  • Advertising IDs: Up to 60 days
  • Aggregated analytics: Up to 26 months

12. Third-Party Links

The App may display ads that contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

13. Legal Compliance

We may disclose information if required by law, such as:

• Responding to legal requests (subpoenas, court orders)
• Protecting our rights and safety
• Investigating fraud or security issues

However, since we don't collect personal data, such disclosures are unlikely.

• The App does NOT guarantee protection against all network threats
• Scan results are risk indicators, not absolute security certifications
• We recommend additional security measures (VPN, antivirus, etc.) for sensitive activities
• The App does not store or access WiFi passwords or network credentials
