What the sign-in page should ask for
Wetherspoon says to select the network and follow the instructions. Expect a sign-in page; it should never ask for a card number for free WiFi or for the password of another account.
Rule of thumb for any public WiFi: a sign-in page may ask you to accept terms, register an email or watch an ad. It should never ask for a card number for free access, your email password or a bank login.
Lookalike networks
Wetherspoon publishes Wetherspoon Wi-Fi and The Cloud. Spoons WiFi, Wetherspoons Free or JDW_Guest are not on its FAQ. Airport Wetherspoon pubs are the stated exception, so a “Wetherspoon Wi-Fi” network inside an airport deserves extra caution.
