In-flight WiFi · Qantas
Is Qantas WiFi safe?
Qantas offers free WiFi in every cabin on its WiFi-connected aircraft. Here is what Qantas publishes and how to use it safely.
Fine for everyday use if you join the exact network Qantas names, “Qantas Free Wi-Fi”, and follow its “You’re connected” screen. It is a shared network for everyone on board, so keep to HTTPS and apps, and if the sign-in page doesn’t load, type wifi.qantas.com yourself rather than following another link.

Step by step
- Flight Mode on, WiFi on, then join exactly “Qantas Free Wi-Fi”.
- Follow the “You’re connected” screen. If it doesn’t appear, type wifi.qantas.com yourself.
- Check the connection before logging in to work or banking; connect your VPN after the WiFi if you use one.
- Ignore any other network on board that offers “faster” or paid WiFi.
- After landing, turn off Auto-Join for the network.
Qantas’s page doesn’t describe the network’s encryption. Treat it like other public WiFi: shared with everyone on the aircraft.
